Welcome to the New Zealand Iaido Renmei (NZIR)

The NZIR is for all dojos and individuals doing Iaido and other Japanese Kenjutsu in New Zealand.

We hope to provide anyone interested in Iaido with accurate and useful information and contacts as well as providing people doing Iaido now with a network to strengthen ties and promote friendship and understanding through this art.

The NZIR is for anyone who is doing Iaido whether you are an individual or a Dojo you are most welcome to join, and it's free. As a dojo or as a supporting member we welcome your articles and useful weblinks. If you are a member of a legitimate Iaido dojo, please sign up. If your dojo still hasn't signed up please tell your Sensei about the Renmei or direct them to this site

The New Zealand Iaido Renmei (NZIR) was formed in 2009 as a non-profit organisation to provide support for all the people doing Iaido in New Zealand. We are not affiliated to the New Zealand Kendo federation and our purpose is a little different. We were formed to promote friendship and to provide a community for Iaido enthusiasts in New Zealand.

We are a volunteer organisation organised by experienced practitioners of Iaido and other Japanese sword arts. We are also 100% non-profit and do not collect fees of any kind. Hopefully through the NZIR fellow Iaidoka can come together and lasting friendships can be forged. The NZIR is for the benefit of everyone doing Iaido in New Zealand and the Renmei belongs to each and every one of us.
